“Just a reminder to water your trees. The ground is parched and the trees are in stress mode.
If you have young trees on your property, along the sidewalk in front of your home or your neighbor’s, water slowly 10-gallons twice a week. One suggestion is to find a 5-gallon bucket and punch some small holes (1/8″ or less) in the bottom. Place the bucket next to the tree and leave it for gravity to do its work.

For larger trees, place a hose with a low drip at the base of the tree for one or two hours depending on the size of the tree. Slow watering gives it a chance seep in deeply. “

Spring is upon us! That means it’s time to get outside and enjoy all of our great City Parks. So please join us for Shape Up Parks Day! on April 10th. Shape Up Parks Day! is a call for Friends of Parks and Neighborhood Organizations to rally their neighborhoods to clean up the parks. The Department of Recreation and Parks appreciates all that the Friends of Park and Neighborhood Community groups do in helping keep our City parks healthy. As a group, let us know how we can help you clean the parks. As people call us we can filter them to specific groups that will be working in the Park, so let us know where and when your event will be.

See Flier for distribution attached.

Thanks, Department City Department of Recreation and Parks Partnership Office

Pictured is a comparison of the pre and post construction views from street (grade) level at Key Highway.

It is currently anticipated that the Science Center’s design team will present their plans in detail at FHNA’s March 16th General Membership Meeting. This schedule could change to due problems associated with the renewal of our Area 9 Residential Parking Permits. The latest info is always available at www.federalhillna.org. Book mark the URL.

As a reminder, the Science Center, the Greater Baltimore Committee, the Baltimore Development Corporation, the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, the Waterfront Partnership and other business interests continue to support an effort to identify the highest and best use for Rash Field. As the “only remaining undeveloped parcel of land along the Inner Harbor Waterfront”, the group feels that Rash Field should be developed to provide a destination attraction designed to bolster decreasing Inner Harbor tourist visits. Anne Arundel Mills Mall displaced the Inner Harbor as Maryland’s top tourist destination again last year.

FHNA needs your input before the planning process for the Rash Filed Re-Development Project gets too far ahead of us.
