Moving from SW 10 degreess off horizon  to SE 60 degrees above the horizon  to ENE 10 degrees of the horizon. It will look like a very bright moving star when viewed with just your eyes.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness by strengthening neighborhoodand police-community partnerships.

Please be part of Federal Hill’s participation in the 2010 National NIGHT OUT by turning on your outside lights, sitting on your front steeps, getting to know your neighbors, talking to and thanking a Police Officer for patrolling the Federal Hill Neighborhood.

 Last year’s 2009 National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.

In all, over 36 million people participated in National Night Out 2009.

Please take the time this Tuesday evening to be a part of this important Federal Hill and National Event and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back.

 Anne Draddy of Tree Baltimore/Baltimore City Recreation and Parks has asked that we take time to sufficiently water our trees.  Here’s her recommendations for taking care of trees during this hot and dry time:

“Just a reminder to water your trees.  The ground is parched and the trees are in stress mode. 
If you have young trees on your property, along the sidewalk in front of your home or your neighbor’s, water slowly 10-gallons twice a week.  One suggestion is to find a 5-gallon bucket and punch some small holes (1/8″ or less) in the bottom.  Place the bucket next to the tree and leave it for gravity to do its work.  

 For larger trees, place a hose with a low drip at the base of the tree for one or two hours depending on the size of the tree.  Slow watering gives it a chance seep in deeply. “

This situation is extremely inconvenient for all of us here in Federal Hill, but especially so for those of us using the temporary permits that the Parking Authority has been distributing instead of window decals.  The Mayor, the Council President, and our Council Representatives are all fully appraised of the situation and are actively working to resolve the issue on our behalf. 

As soon as more news becomes available we will distribute it as soon as possible.
